Setting up the VERSITAL Item Category for the Grid Order Entry element

The VERSITAL Grid Order Entry element provides a drop down menu to use as a filter, that will filter products in the element based on the category assigned to each Item Record in you Netsuite environment.  This feature requires some administrative setup in your Netsuite environment to work properly.
  1. In Netsuite search for "page: VERSITAL Item Category in the global search.  This is a custom record that was loaded into your account during the Bundle installation process.

  2. When you first install the bundle this list will be empty and you can enter new values by using the New VERSTIAL Item Category button.  VERSITAL does not support a multi-level hierarchy of categorization at this time so it is recommended to use the lowest level of categorization that is not overwhelming to the customer in the Grid Order Entry element.
NOTE - You can also add values to this list by using the Netsuite CSV Import process and creating new MVN VERSITAL Item Category Records.

  3. Next you will need to make a custom item field that references this category list.  To do so navigate to Customization > Lists, Records & Fields > Item Fields > New

  4. Give your new field a Name and a unique ID

  5. In the type field select "List/Record" or "Multi-select".  Either option is supported, however, once set this value cannot be changed without clearing all existing values for this field.

  6. In the list field select MVN VERSITAL Item Category

  7. Make sure the Store Value field is CHECKED

  8. In the applies to subtab select which Item types this field should apply to
NOTE - make sure to select all the Item Type which would be shown as available items to order in the User Site.

  9. After all settings are completed, Save this field.

  10. Lastly, navigate to your item records and set the value for each item so they are properly categorized.
NOTE - you can also do this using a CSV Import as well, if desired.
